This is being written after smoking two bowls of this newer blend.
Those of you who keep track of my pipesmoking journeys know that I am a huge fan of Peterson's classic Old Dublin. This is my go-to "English"; I can not tell you who many tins I have smoked, but it never lets me down. I have anxiously tried Peterson's new latakia offerings; Balkan Delight didn't work for me - too much perique. I finally tossed a pouch of Wild Atlantic into an order from SP.
The first bowl was smoked in a Stanwell billiard that is about a Dunhill group 4 and, to be very honest, I was underwhelmed. The latakia was barely noticeable; the smoke was not interesting at all. I decided to give it a try in a larger bowl, so yesterday I loaded up a Chuck Sands billiard that is closer to a Group 5, and fired it off.
Oh - yup - there's latakia, all right; plenty of yummy smokiness. However - that's about all it's got. It's not a lat bomb, but it's also not complex or overly interesting. For those of us who worship at the altar of Old Dublin, this doesn't cut it. I'll smoke the rest of the pouch, but seriously doubt that I will buy any more. It's not bad; just not very interesting.
  and  like this.
Thanks for that - I've been wondering about this blend too.
